1. What do you do outside of the gym?
Outside of the gym, I work as a Front Office Manger at Centra Medical Group in Danville. In my personal time, my husband and I are constantly working on home improvement projects that keep us busy. When we are not working on the house, I’m usually relaxing with our three beagles-Ace, Frehley, and Wrigley or spending time with friends by our new pool.
2. How long have you been training with us?
I joined Old 97 CrossFit in 2020 when Josh first opened the gym-go Josh! It was an exciting time to be part of something new. In 2021, I had to take a step back for about a year to focus on balancing work and home life, but I came back in 2022 and haven’t looked back since. One of the biggest factors that’s helped me stay consistent is the addition of the 5 a.m. class. It is a great way to start the day, and no one has had the chance to ruin your day yet! 😉
3. What’s been your biggest accomplishment since you began training with us?
One huge accomplishment for me in the gym was finally doing a box jump onto a 12-inch box. It might not sound like much, but I was always intimidated by them. With the encouragement from the coaches and a little mind over matter I got it done. It was a personal win for me. There’s also something pretty satisfying about seeing your biceps pop while brushing your teeth or putting your hair in a ponytail. 😊 It’s a daily reminder of the work I’ve put in. And I’ll admit it, it gives me pleasure not needing anyone’s help to lift a 60lb bag of dog food into my shopping cart.
4. What’s your favorite thing about being a member here?
The coaches, the structure, and the community. The coaches take the time to teach you proper form and make sure that you are doing the movements correctly. I also love the structure-I know that I can get a full, challenging workout done in just one hour. But honestly, the very best part is the community. The support, encouragement, and friendships I’ve found at the gym are truly amazing and I look forward to coming in each morning.
5. What would you say to someone who is considering training with us?
Just do it! Don’t overthink it-there’s truly a workout for everyone. The hardest part is walking through the door, but once you do, you’ll realize how welcoming and supportive the environment really is.
