October Member of the Month Interview: Parag Bhatia

1. What do you do outside of the gym? Career, hobbies, etc.!

I work at EPL (Previously known as Essel Propack America) as Key accounts Director (Sales). I love to travel. I like to spend time with my family /my daughter doing little things together. Favorite pastime : watching Bollywood movies and Cricket (played in Australia/England/NZ/ India). 2. How long have you been training with us?

Since the facility opened. Now 24 months.

3. What's been your biggest accomplishment since you began training with us?

I have gained strength, I feel fitter than ever, and healthier. I sleep well. I feel I move well. Everyday household pulling, lifting, pushing have become effortless - and for me that is the REAL gain.

Ever since I switched to 6am classes - I have settled into a good routine and has given me some discipline that is carrying over to other aspects of my life. 4. What's your favorite thing about being a member here? +1 to all the coaches - They make work outs safer, ensure proper form and help scale the weights/ exercises.

The people - everyone is so encouraging. 6am - I think I get the loudest cheers. Usually I am the last one to finish the WOD (ha ha ).

I enjoy the class-based workouts, partner workouts. The 15-20min workouts are akin to meditation - just me and my reps.

Josh cares. When I miss out on too many days, I will get a "checking -in" message from the coach - talk about accountability.

CLEANLINESS and (... OH yes the TUSHY ! )

5. What would you say to someone who is considering training with us?

For someone who is not familiar with 'CrossFit': I would say - If I can make it part of my life then I think anyone can. Coaches at this gym make workouts absolutely safe, ensure proper form, and adjust (scale) the workouts yet make it challenging. Growing up and until into my late thirties I did not do any kind of exercise, workouts or go to gym. The closest thing to any kind of physical /athletic activity I ever did was to play some 'backyard' cricket. So yes If I can take it up..... anyone can do it .. Just beware! it's ADDICTIVE. And for someone who is at an advanced level: well, try this gym. This gym has awesome coaches, good people, great camaraderie and a very professional environment. BONUS: you get to show off your skills at our friendly "Friday Night Lights" challenge.
